Got Ink?
Most of my mindless time at work today was spent laminating flash for a tattoo place up the block. Since tattooing became legal here in Ma (a few years ago) I've toyed with the idea of getting a tattoo. As of NOW, I've yet to get one because a) the pain involved b) it's FOREVER and usually I change my mind about things after a couple of months c) the first idea I had, I was told not so good as a tattoo d) my younger brother got a tat and has often regretted it (see b)
The tattoos ideas that I've toyed with are:
a) Flash/ reverse flash lightning bolts til I was told that yellow isn't a good tattoo color (looks like jaundice) [and hey that's a flash joke. get it?]
b) I've often admired Celtic art and have toyed with the idea of asking someone to do a Celtic Star of David, as I just think that would be funky and different.
c) Something by M.C. Escher. I *think* I once saw a piece of his artwork with devils and angels as puzzle pieces but haven't been able to find it recently.
d) To be honest- and I think I should be honest here in my bottle, I thought briefly of getting a random number tattoo in remembrance of the people (Jews, Gypsies, gays et. al.) who were tattooed with numbers by the Nazis. I ended up scraping this idea, as I didn’t think this was a real good remembrance, and some people might think it was in poor taste, which it might be. But this idea occurred to me because I read a Sunday comic with a Holocaust survivor showing his tattoo number to his grand daughter and the moment was presented in a ‘never forget’ manner that sorta appealed to me as reader.
What I thought was interesting was that I showed the flash to a female co-worker. I showed her two in particular as I thought they were noteworthy. The first was a bunch of naked nymphs in a pool of water with crystals. I asked her what sorta guy would get this and still be able to get girls? She felt that it was actually for bi sexual women.
The other one just disturbed me, as it was a couple of cute cartoon like 'native girls' who were quadruple amputees. I thought that I had no problem with cute 'savage' girls but with no arms or legs??? and bones sticking out of their cut limbs? Again I couldn't understand somebody getting these images on them FOREVER.
Oh and ebay has a category for flash, mostly it’s cd of flash artwork.
