Pessah Part 2.

First... sorry I deleted the post with the pic of my new nephew... I realized after reading Aimee's comment, that it wasn't mine to put up. Basically I should post pictures of my sisters sons( aka my nephews...) without HER permission, and since I didn't get= poof went the picture.
Further I don't intend to tell her about this blog because I want to blog about my family without fear of them finding out- so since I have NO INTENTION of telling her about the blog, I can't ask her for permission and again think it would be wrong to post pictures of HER kids without HER permission.

Which brings me to mentioning how my MOM drove me up the wall for Passover. I was talking to her before I went there and she mentioned how she was looking forward to passover NEXT year with my brother's girl friend because SHE'S jewish and thus Passover would be MORE jewy.
Now I rolled my eyes at this and was glad I was on the phone with her as I found this deeply offensive. Esp. as the family joke was that the passover ceremony was inverse proportionate my grandfather's hunger v. the length of the ceremony( i.e. the hungrier he was the shorter the service). I also thought it was a slap in the face for my step sister.... According to jewish law- sis ain't jewish. Nor do I think sis was raised jewish- as her mother was not jewish. I don't care, what I cared about was the fact that my sis and her husband( who's also not jewish) joined us in service the past few years AND was hosting Passover this year- even though sis was VERY pregnent( dinner was monday night- kid was born thursday).
I also found this- 'more jewish' offensive when I called my mom on a non jewish act of my sister. See she gave her son her father's name as a middle name. Now for those of you who don't know it- it's considered taboo for a jew to be named after a LIVING person.... So a jewish Jr. means his father died between conception and birth. And my mom, while seeming to having a problem with how jewish the sedar was( and SHE was responsible for everything... which was done exceddingly 1/2 assed), she had NO problem with her 'newphew' being named after the LIVING guy that she loved.
ugh.

Actually that was really all the bad stuff with my mom. When I actually saw her things went well. The actual dinner was nice- even though as said it was done very 1/2 assed; don't remember seeing the lamb bone or burnt egg... and come to think of it- we didn't even let Elijah in, for a little wine. Though I did hide the matzo for my newphew as my grandpa used to hide it for me. I also was happy that I got a visit with my sister BEFORE the kid, as had she given birth the day before or the day of passover it would've been a very different visit. As it was I got to hang out with my nephew and give him his birthday present( Batman Uno as I had been told he had a batman themed b'day.)

Oh and even though I was there for my mom's b'day( bought her lunch, and felt guilty as she bought herself flowers... but had she asked- would've paid), she gave me one of my grandfather's VERY nice old watches... and even got me a new band- as the gold one was too large.

It sounds like your visit went a lot better in this post. I'm glad.

I try, when I post pictures that "aren't mine" to post, to photoshop blurs over the person's face so that their unidentifiable--though it erases the cuteness factor.

Had to do that a lot last summer with all the kids swimming in groups photos
