Texas Hold'm

So I was watching this Texas Hold'm game the other day- with Jennifer Tilly, and at the beginning of the program they tell you the rules for Texas Hold'm.

And I was like WTF?
Why does EVERY SINGLE poker show, and there are ALOT of them now, keep telling you the rules of the game at the beginning of the game.

I mean it's not like every baseball game tells you the rules at in the first inning. That the pitcher is trying to 'strike out' the batter, and the batter is trying to 'hit' the ball and 'run to first'

I ranted at the game store yesterday about this. I felt that Texas Hold'm is a pretty simple game and I'm getting tired of listening to the darn rules. It's simple- I know the rules, let's move on.

Mike explained that they explain the rules because they want the viewer TO PLAY POKER, that the National Baseball league isn't trying to get people to play baseball on their own but the poker shows are trying to get you TO PLAY POKER at a local casino or with friends.

Another listener asked me if I disliked these shows so much- why was I watching it...

And I reminded him Jennifer Tilly was on and trying to use all her feminine tricks( of which she has ample ammo) to win. THAT is worth being talked down to a bit.
