Uncly

I know that uncly isn’t really a word (thanks spellchecker!) but I’m using it because I felt uncly on my vacation- and if aunts can act aunty (which spellchecker accepts as a word) why can’t I act uncly?

I felt uncly primarily because I enjoyed myself best while hanging out with my 3+ year old nephew. We started Sunday having ice cream for breakfast. See during dinner the night before, when he wanted MORE ice cream sis promised him ice cream for breakfast- which sounded like a pretty good idea to Uncle Drew, so I had some ice cream with him (his Dad was parental supervision) and then the three of us hit the hot tub. It was also nice later that day, when he wanted company for Cinderella that we reached an agreement. The rest of the adults were talking and I had seen Cindy with him the day before- so I let him know that I’d be willing to sit with him IF he let me read the paper; he didn’t seem to have a problem with this- though I do wish we could’ve traded one of the three showings of Cindy with the Jungle Book.

But what really made me feel uncly was the atom bomb of attention my older brother set off. You see I, and the rest of the family, knew that sis was preggers. What was unknown until Friday night was my brother had planted his seed in his gal pal. I had known that they were trying since my younger bro’s wedding but hadn’t really heard anything more about it--- so I wasn’t really surprised about the news, just hadn’t known that all systems were go. Or that she was Jewish. Not saying it matters to me one way or the other, but I know it does to my mom (who wants me to meet a nice Jewess now that I’m ‘ripped’). So my mom was all aglow with being a REAL grandma (as sis is my step sister). Likewise I’ve told my bro to let me know when he’s told my dad- as Dad has wanted a grandkid for a zillion years- girl preferred as we have a boatload of boys in my family.
And speaking of girls- aforementioned gal pal has TWO daughters already. She has decided that the girls will like Uncle Drew because a) they like comics and b) they like games- and she knows I work at a game store.
As I’ve already emailed Evan, this woman is a mundy and so doesn’t know WHAT comics her kids read- but plan to bring her kids something when I met them on Turkey Day… so my (step) sister has a family, my brother has an instant family with a 10 year old daughter and (soon to be) blood of his blood.

Ok now the family photo( minus my older bro and his gal)
Back row clockwise- Younger (step) Bro’s GF, Step Father, Nephew, Bro in Law, younger (step) bro, my mom. (step) sister and ME.

That’s it for now. Back Later.
