Thoughts in my Mind...
Well… I’m going to be leaving tomorrow feeling a little less stressful. I say that because I’ve been depressed the past few days and one of the things that was annoying me was my drippy faucet. As I’ve mentioned I’m sort of a messy person in private. I like my workplace to be clean and tidy but often my apartment gets quite messy. I mentioned this here because the last time I asked for service… the people came into my apartment when I wasn’t here and officially warned me that my place was a mess. So I felt that was negative reinforcement- that I shouldn’t ask for the handyman for fear of being ‘written up’. However my faucet has been dripping for MONTHS and I finally decided enough was enough- I spent part of the weekend cleaning up my hallway- which was pretty clean to begin with…. I keep the bathroom the cleanest part of my place because I want the bathroom to be nice. I then called the handyman yesterday.
And started to worry… the last time I cleaned up the hallway most of the stuff ended up in the living room, which vitally needs to be cleaned. I worried that the handyman would come when I was gone… but the dripping of the water was really quite annoying and I had tried everything… So I worried…
I was happy when the handyman came right around dinner. I was here, so I ushered him to the bathroom and told him what was wrong. It was not one of his assistants but the head handyman- the type of guy who smells like the cigar he has chomped in his mouth. Yup, while he never took a puff the cigar was in his mouth the whole time.
He didn’t complain about my place, which I felt I dodged a bullet… though I made sure that the door to my bedroom was closed- as was the door to the living room after I left or entered the room( as said was making dinner and tried to see what he was up to).
It took him maybe a ½ hour and part of that was because he had to leave to get parts…
But my faucet now works for the first time in months I can actually turn my hot water OFF.
This feels good.
On the job front… Well I’m not nervous about the drug test. I thought it was odd….. and I’m still morally opposed to it… but I expect I’ll hear back from the Museum of Science gift store next week. Not sure how I feel about that… On the one hand I need a job, on the other hand even if it’s a full time job it would only be a couple of steps better then Staples.
But I need a full time job so am crossing my fingers.
Which leads to, I’m a bit nervous about going to see my mom tomorrow. I had hoped that the rest of the family would be around… but no such like. My sis has decided that my mom’s house is unsafe for her kid and I don’t blame her. Downstairs, we’d still be yapping after he was supposed to go to bed. Upstairs… well the stairs are a metal spiral affair that is NOT safe for little kids. And while there’s a ‘guest house’ it has NO heat and he’s a little young to know when to put logs on the fire so he doesn’t freeze. My older brother isn’t coming until Thursday, and my step brother isn’t coming at all… so I’ll be the only one there tomorrow night and possibly Thursday night( not sure where my older brother is staying). Makes me wish I had got an earlier train ticket on Friday but I thought I’d want to spend some time with the family, who now won’t be there.
But my faucet is fixed, I have a potential job lead, and I’ve lost 16 lbs. in the past couple months so things prolly wont be THAT bad for T-day.
