I'm right, they're idiots

Well today was sort of interesting.

I started today by not sleeping well due to upset stomach due to drinking last night (and not a lot of drinking mind you). I tossed and turned for several hours but made it a point not to get out of bed (longer then it took to get a tums or water) until about 8 am. I then puttered about, trying to get to a point where I felt human before doing a couple of errands and then hunkering down to for the gift store’s HR department to call me( as they are ALL the way in Ca.).
When I felt as about human as I thought I would feel, I started sending my resumes out to job postings on Craig’s List and a library site I haven’t visited in WAY too long( really need to look for library jobs).
Cut to, I get the call.
Human Resources agrees with me about EVERYTHING.
The woman says it is NOT company policy to write people up for NOT showing up and that the company understands my anger at my phone number being given out, which is also something that the company frowns on.
The real kicker came however when I decided before I hung up to air ALL my dirty laundry. I told her that I was tired of them scheduling me for 5 day weeks when I told them when they hired me I’d only work 4 days/32 hours. She stopped me. The Human Resources Lady then wanted to confirm that I worked on average 32 hours a week, which she did because I do. She then shares with me that 32 hours is FULL time at the company, and since I’ve been there for more then 3 months, I’m potentially FULL time.
WoW!
I told her that I wasn’t sure what time I was working tomorrow (Tuesday) but that she was free to call me there or at home to follow up and find out if I am indeed full time.
I then called the gift shop to find out my hours as I misplaced my schedule. I talked to the manager, he asked me if I was ok, and I told him I was because it turns out that I was right AND that I might be full time. He was like ‘wha?’ and I told him that HR told me that 32= Full Time and I’ve been putting in 32 hours since hired. He countered with 35 is full time. I bit my tongue before I told him that he thought it was a) ok to write people up for calling in sick- which it isn’t and b) that it was ok for him to pass out my number to the irresponsible jerkwads he has working for him- which it isn’t, so c) he might be wrong about the hours as well… Instead I just told him that Human Resources is checking into this and will get back to us.

So on the one hand, I still think I should be trying to leave the gift shop asap, but on the other hand I think it might be easier to find another job (and generally a good thing) if it turns out that I’m FULL time. Then I can say to the next employer, I’m full time here and if you hire me- I want to be full time there as well.

Life is odd.

Oh and I got to see Kid Flash on Titans Saturday- it TOTALLY ROCKED!
