Ok... I'm starting this in the morning but will finish in the afternoon. Basically I need to find a job but want to spend the week before the election talking about the bad points of George W. Bush as commander n' Chief.
I thought I was going to start with his trifecta against the U.S. Legal System but that will have to wait til tomorrow, as I saw him giving an 'interview' on Hannity and Combes last night, and feel I need to talk about what I saw and heard. Sadly there isn't a transcript up anywhere yet( though I did find this PARTIAL transcript that had an EVIL democrat point out that W. should be impeached.).
On last night's show, George W. Bush gave an 'interview' with Hannity. Combes was no where to be found. He wasn't sitting with them or on a satellite feed or even mentioned. Because God forbid someone challenge W. on one of his factiods.
And that's the nub of my problem with this and the Bill O'Rilley interview with W. Both interviews are done at W.'s convince, with them sitting down in comfortable chairs- looking like they're having a 'chat' with the president while he takes some time off. Heck in the Hannity, they're in Florida in nice comfy wicker chairs with a beautiful view behind them.
But what really got me peeved was when W. talked about the debates. He mentioned that he had a 'duty' to do them... BUT then went on to point out that by doing a debate AS PRESIDENT, you somehow make the other guy appear more presidential- because you let others see him as YOUR EQUAL. Now, of course, Hannity didn't really follow this up as he didn't follow up any question but TO ME, this was a very telling piece of information. W. had just admited on tape that he didn't think that HE and Kerry were EQUALS.
This NOT surprise me but I found it interesting none the less. You see the republicans make a point of talking about HOW MUCH MONEY KERRY has... How he has 5 homes... 3 suvs and stuff... BUT most of that money is his wife's Terresa's. If she divorces him, he has ALOT less( pre-nup.) See politics costs LOTS of money $$$. Terresa Heinz Kerry has to keep track of how much she gives her husband... Because while they're husband and wife, as a private citizen she can only give SO much. So if John wants to use her jet- he's got to pay his wife something NEAR to fair market value.
The Bushes on the other hand have been able to PAY for SEVERAL campains. Prescott Bush( George W.'s grandfather) was a senator from Conn. And as it mentions in his bio- SIX HOMES. "He maintained homes in Long Island, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut; the family compound at Kennebunkport, Maine; a 10,000 acre (40 km²) plantation in South Carolina; and an island retreat in Florida." Man, W's family really had it tough.
If we go back a bit futher- his ancestor Samuel Howard was 'in' on the Boston Tea Party... which further puts W. away from the 'common man'- as how many people can claim relations at the Boston Tea Party. No Johnny come lately there.
Actually my KEY to say that the W's are connected is this Gallery of Presidents which implies that the Bushes are related to F.D.R., Taft, Ford, and G.W. himself.
Actually that's not enough. I mean it's one thing to say that George Walker Bush is desendent from "American Royalty" with AIR QUOTES, it's another to point out that W. is... desended from ACTUAL blue blood royalty. Which he is.
So this guy grows up with a 'compond' in Conn. and tries to pass himself off as "ONE OF the LITTLE GUYS" PL-LEEZE. How many of you have Presidents for fathers? I thought so. How many have senators for Grandpas? Maybe a bit more but still not alot.
It just really bothered me this moment. Where W. points out that LETTING Kerry APPEAR to be his equal HELPS Kerry. Whoever holds the title of president, should realize it's a title... that HE( saddly no she yet) gets for 4 to 8 years. It's not SUPPOSE to be enherited, and it should be EARNED. So Kerry, by earning his party's endorsement, earned the RIGHT to debate President Bush. Just like W. got the right to debate Vice President Gore by getting his Party's O.K. At no point, did I hear Gore get upset because he had to debate this 'upstart' who wanted a job Gore felt that HE had earned.
Heck I don't even think Bush EARNED the right to be called President, but that's another rant. This rant it just suppose to point out that W. is SO NOT a 'regular joe' like you and me- who's worried about getting fired. The most he's worried about is that IF he loses, then he MIGHT have to face the idea that people don't like him.
