Hurts my head...

Ok when I first read about the idea of a time traveler convention, I thought this was a bloody brilliant idea.

1) Time Travel is a binary thing. Either it exists, and you can travel through time... in which case it ALWAYS exists or it doesn't.
Which is to say if you create Time Travel in 4000 A.D., then you can travel back to 200 BC, so Time Travel exists in 200 BC

2) Recently someone at MIT figured that IF you had a time travel party and let people KNOW about it.... Well if time travel exists they can go to anywhen, esp. if they hear it's a good party. ;-)

You with me. I thought this was bloody brilliant, TIL I read their web site. First they wanted to try and figure out a way of keeping this information active until such time as time travel is invented. Which as my #1 states, is unnecessary- IF time travel is invented- there could be people reading web sites, and so you don't have to worry about a way of preserving the data.

However my REAL problem with this idea was when I checked their website and found out
DUE TO MIT POLICE REGULATIONS, NO ATTENDEES WILL BE ADMITTED WHO HAVE NOT ALREADY RSVP'D.
And my brain exploded. On the one hand, if you are a time traveler you can register the moment they allow registration... so this would only keep out the riff raff like myself who can NOT time travel but on the other hand how cool would this party sound to a time traveler if s/he/it knows that only they and geeky MIT kids who want to learn about time travel are going to be there.

So I'm not going- but I am posting this info just in case there are some KEWL time travelers out there who read my blog and want to check out the MIT party.

However if you come to the compleat strategist on Sunday with the X-Men 3 dvd, I will gladly buy you a drink at Boston beerworks.
