Movie Time

Evan tagged me with this.

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video-
230 on DvD- counting as evan does a season as 1- which while quite logical for Buffy, which was BOUGHT as a boxed set... means I'm counting the 11 Farscape dvds that I bought SEPERATELY for season 1, is counted as one.
Same goes for the 2 Abbott and Costello collections I bought which each have like 8 songs each- bought as one, counts as one
Oh and it's NOT counting my "private" collection.
For Laserdiscs and VHS... less sure.
VHS- I'd say 10 thought gave ALOT out earlier this year while cleaning my place.
Laserdiscs- about 30. I've rebought some of them on dvd, but not all yet.

And damn evan for having MORE.
Damn YOU!

2) The last film I bought. Ouch had to re-read that as the LAST DVD I bought was Harvey Birdman... But last movie. It was A Very Brady Sequel. I had to upgrade it from Laserdisc, as I love "I'm tripping with the Bradys"

3) The last film I watched:
In theater- Kung Fu Hustle. I was given a free pass to Hitchhiker's and had to get the stink off my eyes.
On tv: hmm not sure if that means what I PUT on tv with my dvd... last I saw that was 'just on' was Corky Romano. It was on comedy central and I was bored.
rented: haven't rented this year. Last movie I borrowed from a freind- Harold and Kumar go to White Castle- X-treme Edition.

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
Planet of the Apes. If you know me, you know that PotA must be on the list.
And we're talking 'Get your hands off me you damned dirty ape!"
Small Soldiers- A perfect movie. One of those movies where I wouldn't change a thing.
The Quick and the Dead- I don't know what it is about this movie. I bought it so I would have a Q in my dvd library, but really dig it. And watch it semi often. Doesn't mean alot to me but I like watching it.
1776- One of the few movies I've blogged about. I see it at least once a year. Sometimes I just put it in to watch a song or scene.
Fifth was harder as I'm tired. The Hudsucker Proxy. Long Live the Hud

Too late to do this, or I was up tooo early which is more likely.

5)Everyone I'd want to tag has been tagged.... save for carolyn. If she has a blog or something out there- tag she's it.

Dude, I'm addicted to spending money on dvds. I can't stop. Your collection is very sizeable as well, though.

Like you, Quick and the Dead was originally to fill my Q slot, but I actually really dig it.

my aunt & uncle are down for the week, and I remembered she was a director of librarians or something hahahahahahahaha so I asked her about a reference librarians, considering I just found out it was your dream job-I wasn't positive all that it entailed, but I thought it sounded way intriguing, kinda like a detective!! and as for the dice, no clue what you are talking about hahahahahahahahaha but it all sounded good-I have always wanted to play dungeons & dragons-and I really wanted that movie to be good, but really it is fairly awful, how disappointing, but what a great segueway!!

Planet of the Apes. If you know me, you know that PotA must be on the list.
And we're talking 'Get your hands off me you damned dirty ape!"

**love pota, though the sequels more-I like to fast forward through th eboring parts of the first;-D actually, I like to do that with most movies, I always thought I'd make a great film editor hehehehehehehehe

Small Soldiers- A perfect movie. One of those movies where I wouldn't change a thing.

**wow, trs interesting-never saw it, I rather despise computer animation

The Quick and the Dead- I don't know what it is about this movie. I bought it so I would have a Q in my dvd library, but really dig it. And watch it semi often. Doesn't mean alot to me but I like watching it.

**I am guessing you mean the original, I have the remake with sharon stone & gene hackman hahahahahahhahahaha but I had to think for a sec about the Q's? that is not actually the most sparse letter for me, I have quick & the dead, quick change, q the winged serpent

1776- One of the few movies I've blogged about. I see it at least once a year. Sometimes I just put it in to watch a song or scene.

**I've never seen this, but I do luff musicals!! I totally do that too (popping it in for a number or scene)-I'll have to check it out, I would think offhand that the title would suggest some boring american history thing so I never thought about it, and it reminds me (just in a title way) of some other film I am blanking on-I think it was about a musical, with alan alda, really old-but I do semi-recall it being about trying to stage a show in that vein

Fifth was harder as I'm tired. The Hudsucker Proxy. Long Live the Hud
Too late to do this, or I was up tooo early which is more likely.

**just plain never saw this....I suspect tim robbins was in it, I try to avoid such things hahahahahahahahahahaha-you know how there are a handful of actors you will watch in absolutely anything? and then there are the ones you just will not watch in any film unless under very special & dire circumstances? like tom cruise, julia roberts, julianne moore, etc.

    1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video: hmm, I don't know what the whole counting series thing is hahahahahahahaha I would think that would count as one title, I wouldn't count each individual disc or season, but I am beginning to luff some of my tv discs more than just some films-I don't know, a little over 400 vhs & 200 laserdiscs-dvd I thought would be least, but they have been catching up-prolly close to 300 now, but a good 50 of those are burnt, and I know how that disgusts you, harris hehehehehehehehehe

    2) The last film I bought: wow...bought? well I have bought as a gift, I have received as a gift, but for myself? that's gotta be a long long time ago...I have bought some concerts or sports but movie...maybe 10 things I hate about you? angel? (fave line: go ahead, make your move, I'll blow his fucking brains out!)

    3) The last film I watched: been trying to watch equilibrium, something is wrong with the disc, only have seen half;-p
had a triple feature the other day-garden state: sucked, and I had heard it was so good/the quiet american: middling/in good company: awesome

on tv? I hardly ever watch it there, I guess savat or slap her, she's french (both great)

    4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me: you gotta be kidding, who can narrow that down hahahahahahahahahaha-let's choose 5...

seabiscuit (lovelovelove, might be gaining on dirty dancing hehehehehehehehe)

jaws (though II & III prolly just as much)

    the big easy (cracklin')

    white nights (baryshnikov, baby!)

there's no business like show business (donald o'connor's best, screw singin' in the rain)

5)Everyone I'd want to tag has been tagged.... save for carolyn. If she has a blog or something out there- tag she's it.

**I've been called worse;-D I don't think I know 5 people hahahahahahahaha I've seen this making the rounds on journies for a few weeks now, so I can't think of anyone who hasn't-I just thought I'd paste this here for you, I could put it in my blog, but I don't really want to just advertise that for the world at large, I can only take so many peeps laughing at me at once, I hope this was acceptable!! guess who! (hint: carolyn)

Pota- Conquest has a special place in my heart as it gets more into the whole race riots things...
Heck I have the whole series on vhs, laserdisc and dvd... Only other movie to get such a treatment is Jungle Book.

I love Small Soldiers as the cgi is solid and the special effects aren't THE movie... It's a character driven story which happens to have good special effects. I also love the talent from a young Kristen Dunst, Phil Hartman( in his last role), and Dennis Leary. PLUS the voices... Ricci, SMG, and Tommy Lee Jones among others.

Actually I *DID* mean the Sharon Stone one... It's directed by Rami and it's just a addictively good movie.
I'm 90% sure evan is also talking about the Rami version.

1776- is history, but I didn't find it boring in the movie. It's about the signing of the declaration of independence- focusing primarily on John Adams- played excellently by William Daniels. There are a couple of numbers with Abigal Adams and one with Jefferson's wife shoehorned into it( usually skip over them) as the rest of the action is a bunch of men trying to create the the United States...
I own this movie on both dvd and laserdiscs... and know it well enough to know what's exclusive to each edition.
I normally don't like History but I love musicals and this is a great one.

I understand not liking certain actors, though personally I dig robbins.
But agree with you on some of the others... Like I have NO PLANS to see War of the Worlds because of Cruise. Pity.

And um... Never saw Show Business though I do love O'conner in Singing in the rain. In fact I thought it was funny I saw singing in the rain on the London stage and it was odd to hear it with a brit accent instead of the brooklyn accents I was used to. Might have to rent it.

And yeah being a reference librarian is sort of dectective like- trying to find a book a patron wants or needs.
Heck at my grad school there was a special collection of library mysteries and I got and added to it a batman.
In fact if I could do Oracle's job and help superheroes find the info they needed to track down the baddies... that would be an interesting job too...
Likewise I've begun to notice that a bunch of authors THANK their librarians for helping them find info they need for their book.

And I thank you for replying on my blog Carolyn. I'll take what I can get- I like your input so will take what you give and be happy. That's why when I thought of getting a live journal account- I worried about losing your input. I did get a live journal id to comment to adj's live journal but have yet to post anything there.
