Reading... is fundamental.

Not a poli-blog.

Just I finished a country with no name... and I realized this is the ONLY book I've read this year--- and it's march.

I used to read about a book a week. Heck I remember in High School staying up til like 2 am wrapped up in a book( and often not a really good book in hindsight).

but here's it's march and I JUST finished a book I started in December.

I want to say in my defense that I'm more current in US news then I was in High School. That I know more about history... but it really sort of bothers me how little I've been reading.

I want to first blame my depression... I just hadn't really FELT like reading- even though I have a bunch of good books. While cleaning in Jan. I found a bunch of books I'd like to re-read- including Superheroes which supposedly has Revent( a hero who appears in PS 238). I also have Dead Man's Hand, a collection of Nancy A. Collins short stories which I got for X-mas from a friend. So it's not like I'm lacking in reading material, and even if I was I do have a library book card.

But I've been depressed- and so much of my 'free time' is spent zoning in front of the TV( usually watching TNT's drama crud of Charmed and Judging Amy) or chewing the fat at the game store.

Or I spend time playing Sims 2- that's how I started myself reading again. I realized that it takes like 5-10min for Sims 2 to fully load. So instead of watching mindless TV, I started reading A Country with No Name again... and I finished it in a couple of days.

I think being tired and depressed was most of the reason I wasn't reading... as I wanted to pay attention to A Country with No Name- while it's framed by fiction, it's an interesting look at history of this country and the naming of the same. Like I didn't notice before but neither our pledge to country( I pledge allegiance to the FLAG and the country for which it stands) or our National Anthem( Star Spangled Banner) mention the name of this country for which the Flag stands for.

but it bugs me that my reading has dropped so much. I can blame so many things, but I really need to set up some to read things other then Smirking Chimp. Though again I take a smigin of comfort in the fact that I'm reading news more- like Smirking Chimp, the Globe and talk to my freind- the manager of the game store about current events.

Though ironically after I post this, I'm either gonna go right to bed or look at a couple of comics I was able to buy today. BUT I know where Superheroes and Dead Man's Hand is and I'll start one tomorrow.
