Serenity
Ok... I saw Serenity yesterday.
I'm on the fence about spoilers... as I sorta fear if I have spoilers, someone might 'think' they want to read and then get annoyed that I actually spoil things.
So without spoilers- 4 out of 5- if you're a brown jacket[ Firefly fan] already. Otherwise 3 out of 5. I went with someone who hadn't seen the series and while she was able to follow everything, it was clear to me that as a Firefly fan I was enjoying it more.
While it did cover the big pieces- Mal having served in the war, River being a medical experiment, I did feel that there was stuff that perhaps I thought were more funny or more of a pay off having seen the series.
Likewise, there is space between the series and the movie. I know that there's a comic Serenity( 3 issue mini series) but if you haven't read the story( I still need the 3rd issue) you might be a little lost. I'm not sure if Joss did this so that he could tell stories BETWEEN the end of the series and the movie- like Book and Inara leaving Serenity.
And I sorta want to warn you that the movie CHANGES life on the ship... but won't say more.
