Why it's not called "Fun"...
Well yesterday was an eye opener for the new ‘call in sick” policy.
Basically the grape vine ( i.e. I heard it second hand instead of actually being there to see it go down or hear it from one of the primary parties) tells me that someone called in sick a few times last week. She had a note from a doctor, but was still told by one of the Ass’t Managers that her note might not be good and thus her job could be in danger. Not wanting to be fired…. She decided to quit.
Ouch.
So this crappy policy of being written up for calling in sick might actually be enforced.
I’ve being promising myself to change my availability because a) I want to work a 4 day week NOT a 5 day week at the store as I also want to work at the game store and b) the schedule still is not done in a timely fashion. I have put this off because I’m a nice guy and want to be there for the company… Also I wanted a friend (who manages a retail store of his own) to make sure that I did it right and not snotty.
Because of this ‘change’ and the fact that the manager might not be punking us about the policy (or he just forgot to tell the other managers he was ‘just kidding’) I have made a new schedule today. I probably should’ve given more thought to it ( I just filled it out a ½ hour ago after a crappy night’s sleep)… but I decided I only wanted to give them four days to schedule me; and it seems that the scheduler is working today and won’t be working again until Thursday. So I picked two days semi randomly- Wednesday- as that seems a good mid point and Tuesday… as that seems like a good day to call people and try to schedule interviews. So I’ll end up with 3 days back to back( Thursday, Friday and Saturday)
Heck if it wasn’t for the quitting, I might’ve called in today as I’m closing with the Ass’t Manager I don’t like but this way I get to give her my new work schedule
