Fuckin' A'

Ok... so I was pulled off the store to talk to management every day of the last 3 days.
I blogged on thursday that I was pulled of the floor to write an incident report because of my screw head co-worker, who doesn't do a lick of work and seems to have gotten pissed at ME for asking him to work. Friday- well I need to explain something if I haven't already( though I think I have) another store in the 'chain' is closed for renovations so their people are at my store. Yes, I know we're a gift store for a musuem and it's not like the musuem owns a bunch of other smaller musuems... but the company I work for is NOT the musuem and the company runs gifts store for other musuems( like the ROM)... so we have these people from this other gift store.
These people are incredibly cliquey, obviously prefering each other's company to ours. I think I mentioned the assistant manager of their store- who I'm gonna call Syncliare because she reminds me of Synclaire from Living Single( who I didn't realize was annoying until I had to work with someone like her). Syncliare is always exceddingly upbeat and devaules phrases like 'sweetie' by calling everyon sweeting. She's also the one who gave herself a clutch of perfect scores for her self evaluation.
On friday she calls me in to the back because... I asked a kid for a reciept. The kid gave me an item that he asked me to hold for him, so some time later he asked for it back. Before I gave it back I asked 'did you pay for it?', what I consider a valid question... he said yes. I told him to show me the receipt. He said he paid for it, I tried to be firm with him and let him know that he wasn't leaving the store with the toy without the reciept...
She called me off the floor because I was too loud and I had a tone.
Let me tell you something. The store has beein f'ing loud the past week due to school vaca... and when stuff is loud around me- I end up re-acting by getting loud myself. I have an ongoing problem with my sound levels, it's like my natural voice level is a 9 and I have to LOWER my voice to speak normally. So when I get excited or angry, my voice naturally gets higher.
Second, I hate being told I have a 'tone'. I find it a catch all for a parental- 'you're not being submisive enough for me'. Maybe it's just MY parents but when I hear- don't use that tone, at this point in my life I want to give someone the bird for that.

Yesterday was the worse. Now before I set the scene I should mention that the store is STILL running on the hot side- though part of it could be body heat as we've been darn busy... but I don't deal with heat well so have been unhappy even before anything else.
I come at 1pm, and check out what I'm doing. I'm schedued at the first set of cash registers... and I notice that there are a bunch of shirts and a bunch of hangers. Well you don't have to draw me a map, I realized without asking or being told that I was to hang them and put them out. At the same register is a female- let's call S. S is a nice girl from Africa who's going to school here. In the past couple of weeks she's been reading 1984 for school. I ask her about this as I LOVED Orwell's book, and I know she's complained about it, so in between ringing people up I try to enlighten her about it. In fact because of her, I'll prolly be reading it again in the next month or so, as I've realized I'm sooo much f'ing older then the rest of my co-workers that since I haven't read 1984 since--- 1984, the last/only time I read it was BEFORE most of my co-workers were born.
So anyway, I'm multi tasking- hanging, ringing people up and sharing my love of books with S... and the manager of the other gift store( let's call her B), drops a hammer on me. She's clearly mad for some reason... and she tells me to go to the cash wrap at the OTHER end of the store. B then procedds to explain EXACTLY what I'm suppose to do there- like I'm the screw head. I get pissed at this but I just nod my head. I'm tired of her and her crew bossing me arround but MY manager( who let's face it, doesn't exactly fill me with glee either) is gone for the week so I just go to the other end of the store... where I'm to straighten and make the store look nice when I'm not ringing.
I want to mention alot of stuff here- like the fact that I feel I'm much more aware of my surroundings then most of my teenage co-workers. So for example when I sold an item, I noticed there was an empty spot where it was- and since it was a $50 item, I made sure to re-stock it... and yeah while I was restocking, someone asked for a specific color- which I made sure to get for her...
So I was more then a little pissed when I was called into the back for the third time in three days. I was called back by Assistant Manager L. Now I like L. I know the teenagers don't like her because she's a bit anal, but I can deal with anal. I've lived with anal, and because of it I understand what L wants from me and I think she likes me because I don't question her... I just do it.
L tells me the reason that B sent me to the other end of the store was because I was talking toooo much to my co-worker, that I was being chatty and B didn't like it. I got pissed at that. I didn't yell at L, because again I like her and I, think, that she wasn't picking on me but giving me a head's up. I told her I didn't like B going after me- that EVERYONE in this store chats each other up. I was multi tasking and didn't think it was a real issue or MORE of an issue then anyone else on the floor; as I wanted to put things in perspective. I also let L know, being careful to keep my volume checked, that I was in a pissy mood because I'm working hard and I'm convinced that the manager is going to use the screw head's report on me to lower the amount of a raise I'm going to get this year... if they ever actually give me one( the f'ers).
B then chews me out again later that night. See, I'm trying to keep myself productive and replenish the candy as we've been selling a TON of it. I run out of pricing stickers, and ask L where they are. She doesn't know, the B sticks her head into things by pointing out that SHE, B, is DOD(= Director On Duty) so if I have ANY questions- I'm to ask her. So I ask B where the pricing stickers are. She tells me they're downstairs... so I go downstairs. While down there I hear a ringing... and I don't realize until it stops ringing that it was the downstair phone( the reciever gave it a weird ringtone), so I come back up with the sticker... and B reads me another riot act; pointing out that there were some stickers ON THE FLOOR, and thus I didn't need to go downstairs. I bite my tounge... but I figure if L didn't know about the stickers, I'm absolved- because it means that it wasn't an OBVIOUS spot for the stickers.

B tries one last chew out last night. After a bunch of staff leave( because it's Saturday night and we only have a small amount of people working Saturday night), she wants to start a project. She asks L to help her. L points out that she's in the process of closing down the store- as we had all six registers ringing, so that means L has to count down ALL of them. B then points out that I can help her- L points out that since it's just the three of us... I have to 'man' the register, B points out that I'm not like welded to the spot that I could move arround. B says this really snippy.
Later L 'apologizes' for B's snipe... and points out that B is in a bad mood... and I'm like I noticed.

So I got home and was on the computer for about a 3/4 an hour or so before realizing I should be in bed... where I toss and turn for about an hour before deciding to use the LAST ambian I had. I was on the fence about using it... as it was my last and I don't want to overmed myself... but considering I still was thinking and tossing and turning AFTER taking it... and I got a mere 6 hour of sleep even with it... maybe it wasn't so bad to use it.

But I'm in a bad way, and even though I don't like the manager I don't see anything improving until he gets back. Going to the gym shortly as I hope to get rid of stress/energy.

B sounds like one of those people who didn't get a full education and gets her rocks off bossing around better educated people who have to be subordinate to her.
