Can't put it down

I bought a book last Monday after seeing my dad. It was by an author I liked, Tanya Huff, but a NEW series( *NOT* the blood series which I highly recommend). I got about a 100 pages in, when I realized that I didn't like this book but I continued to read it. When I got about 1/2 through, I was convinced that I didn't like Smoke and Shadows, but I still read it. I just finished it and wonder WHY?

Why didn't I put it down when I realized that I didn't like it instead of spending a day or more reading. Heck, I actually dove into reading it faster just so I'd finish it.

I seem to have a bad habit of finishing books I don't like or watching movies I don't like to the end. I don't think I've walked out on more then a handful of movies, though goodness knows I feel I should've walked out on the Hulk. I usually want to see things to the end so I make sure that the writer doesn't redeem him/herself and I miss the FANTASTIC ending.

but I really do sometimes think it would save time if I stopped reading books I don't like- esp. as it's not like I have to do book reports anymore.

For me it's "I've already put all this time into it, if I stop now, that time will be wasted."

Ignoring the fact that by spending more time on it, and ending just as unhappily, I get a net result of MORE wasted time.
