Ebay

I’ve been using Ebay for years and have evolved a love-hate relationship with it. Well for the first time in these years, I’ve gotten A negative feedback. Yes, one person has decided to say that they didn’t like the way I bought/sold things on Ebay.
They left me negative feedback because I narc’ed on them. See I had bought 3 computer games from them. The person had very positive feedback so I felt safe buying 3 computer games from them. They sent me 3 bootleg games. Of the 3 games, 2 didn’t even install properly and the one that I got to install was buggy.
I emailed the seller and told them I wanted my money back. That the games didn’t work AND had I known they were bootlegs, I wouldn’t have bid as high as I did. He responded that this was a no go; the auction listed the items AS IS, that he had paid more then I did for these cds, that odds are I had just copied the software, and that I could always re-coup my losses by putting the items back up on Ebay.
Naturally I decided that I had more options and I told Ebay that he was selling illegal bootlegs of software. I also left him negative feedback- pointing out that he sold me NON working illegal bootlegs and refused to give me my money back.
And of course naturally, once the seller found out about this, he left me nasty feedback, accusing me of copying the software and THEN asking for a refund- something that he of course can’t prove.
He also sent me a nasty message through Ebay. I at first wondered how and if I should report his letter when I noticed on the side of the letter Ebay asking me if the letter was “inappropriate” so I told Ebay about that as well.

Now I’m sort of ambivalent to my first negative feedback. Part of me really wants to sue the seller for Slander- I mean how can he prove I made copies? But part of me figures I should’ve known that since he hadn’t left me feedback in the first place- that he’d use HIS feedback for payback.
So my feedback will never be 100% positive again. Time will tell if this will affect things; as this was feedback as a buyer and not a seller- and I’d be more worried about people buying from me then selling to me.

You know, I've been registered with Ebay since '03 and I've never bid seriously on anything. And because I haven't, I have no feedback, positive or negative, to speak of but I understand where you're coming from, I'd definitely be peeved.
