WTF??!!!???
First to give credit where credit is due- I read this story on Paul Dini's LJ which linked to the story.
To sum up because "... one viewer who took offense to two episodes of Tom and Jerry..." Boomerang is editing ALL their cartoons where smoking was portrayed in a 'positive' way.
To this I say WTF?!?
When I had dinner with Kel, I pointed out to him that while I was PERSONALLY happy with the ban of smoking in bars and resturants in Ma. I felt it was a slippery slope. Smoking is allowed by law, so does the law really get to say where and when you do it? Especially, as unlike sex, the state gets a special TAX when you buy your smokes- persumely to help pay for the health care of you and others?
But to edit cartoons for behaviour that's no longer acceptable??? I thought it was bad enough that Cartoon Network( a sister/parent station to Boomerang) when they re-dubbed a 'mammy' voice for Tom and Jerry.
As far as I'm concerned... Turner( the same guy who came up with coloring black and white movies) should leave things the way they are. If they don't like the two Tom and Jerry Cartoons... then remove them from rotation. I'd rather have them not airing then be editted like a CleanFlick movie.
